I have a new Nitro 896 with a 200 XR6. Great boat but I am little concerned over the "lack" of water pressure. Under general idle or slow speed the indicator runs around 8 psi and under WOT it runs a high of 12. My thought is that it should run at WOT at least 18-20 and around 14-15 at slow or idle. Anyone have any experience with this? I have an e-mail into the dealer to get his story. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds about right to me. At idle, my 200 Opti barely registers on the pressure gauge. As long as the tell-tale stream of water is coming out of the engine, I'm OK.

Adam,

Thanks for the response. Pee hole seems to be pumping just fine but generally electronics are there for a reason and I want to make sure something is not wrong. Appreciate the feedback.

Sounds about right. I wouldn't worry. What does the owners manual say it should read?

12 to 15 is the minimum at WOT. At idle it should be near nothing. The back pressure of the water keeps the rpms down so low that the motor only needs a few psi............sa

On my 150 XR6, I'll pull 12 to 13 psi at WOT, and the idle pressure varies depending on the temperature of the motor. It usually pumps around 6 to 8 psi. When I first start the motor and the block is cold, I won't get any water out of the pee hole. But, as the temp climbs, I'll see the pressure gauge jump up to 6 or 8 and water starts sputtering out of the pee hole.

Yours sounds fine to me.

It depends on where the pick up is. My dealer told me that my pick up was not at the pump discharge but way down stream. If I had pressure and a good stream then it was OK.

Not so much How Much Pressure, but that I had pressure.
