The Apache was firing the M230 30mm chain gun that's mounted under the cockpit. It typically fires explosive ammunition, and that appears to be what it was loaded with that time.

Just think of the brass falling out of this beast.Never mind being on the receiving end!! It's a terrible thing to need such a machine to keep peace in the world.It's a nasty job to have to use them.My hat goes off to those that do that I may live as good and safe as I do.
