Update on My Motor Repair

As some of you are aware, I made a huge blunder and dumped some used tractor oil in the remote oil tank of my 150XR6. I discovered this after running the boat for approx 40 minutes and experiencing some rough idling problems as well as some elevated rpm's at idle.



As you may remember, I hooked up with a mobile marine tech (OMC guru) whom I was introduced to through a fellow co-worker.



I dropped my boat off last Tuesday and left for Ocean City Maryland, not expecting to hear from him till I returned. Lo and behold the following day (wednesday), I recieved a cell call from him reporting the following. The entire system was purged and cleaned, including the pump and control module(?), new oil was was added to both tanks, system was pressurized, idle was set to factory specs and the motor was administered a compression check. The boat was then water tested according to him for an "extended period of time" (he admitted to doin a little fishin too). The good news is EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT PERFECT...!! Appears no damage was done by me. I'm a happy man, not only because I have a healthy motor, but I've found a new friend who happens to be darn good with a wrench...!!! Oh, and I almost forgot....ALL THIS FOR $75.00 BUCKS....!!!!

i USED to store all my old used oil in my empty 1 gallon Merc oil jugs.......I don't do that anymore...!!!!

Kinda what I thought. I've come close to doing the same thing but now I always checke to make sure the seal is broken. I don't put in any less than a whole gallon so I know if it is open, it ain't merc gravy!!
