I want to thank everyone for their thought and prayers. It really means a lot to me and i appreciate it more then you will ever know. My dad and i are very close and watching him go thru this and knowing what he is in for in the near future is really killing me.
Here is what i know at this time. He has a tumor thats about the size of a kiwi fruit in the left side of his brain. What kind of tumor it it they don't know yet and wont know until the pathology comes back after surgery. He is going to have surgery to remove as much of it as they can on Wednesday. There are some areas of it they don't want to touch because if they remove it he could loose his vision and ability to speak. The Doctor thinks that he can get about 60% of the tumor out and then they will do radiation/chemo treatment on the rest. What the long term outcome is we dont know and neither did the doctors at this point. We will know a lot more on Wed. The good news is he responded very well to the steroid treatment they gave him at the hospital to reduce the swelling. He responded well enough that they sent him home for the weekend and his headache is gone and his vision is somewhat normal. He also has had no seizure issues(he is on a prevention med now) so thats also a good sign.
He is in excellent shape and thats only going to help him thruout the recovery process. There is still a lot of unknowns and its pretty scary. Im very scared of what this may mean for him in the future and its really painful to see this happen to him. At this point all we can do it take it day by day and hope for the best. The doctors seem very confident that they can do a lot to help him and i hope they are right. We are lucky to have some of the best healthcare in the country in our back yard and the doctor that will be doing the surgery is one of the top tumor specialists in he country so i feel that he is in good hands.
