I am running a 12/24V trolling motor. I leave it on 24V all the time, however yesterday during a tournament I noticed that my TM seemed sluggish after a while. I checked the charges on the two batteries and one showed no juice while the other showed a bout a third. Is this normal? Are the battries not charging even (left on the onboard charger all the time), or is one of the batteries starting to go bad?

What type of charger do you have? The resaon is that a number of posts ago there was a simmilar question posted by one of the members. I had a problem with the motorguide charger on my 929 one bank showed full charge while the other was about 2/3 .After replacing one battery and still having the same problem I decided that the charger was the problem . Try switching the batteries if the "bad" battery now gets a full charge and the "good" battery doesn't my money would be on the charger .

Technically speaking, the moment you put the batteries in your boat they start to go downhill.....

One battery is stronger than the other. It is not necessarily "bad" yet. Put a charge on it and make sure it is putting out full voltage - actually 13.2 volts if I remember correctly. You can also take it to a battery dealer and have them "load test" it to see just how strong/weak it may be.

me!
