One of my favorites has now come back to life:
On a long and lonesome highway east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine, moanin' out its one note song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin', you just wish the trip was through
Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on stage
Here I go, playing the star again
There I go, turn the page
Verse 2
You walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode
Most times you cant hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old cliches is that a woman or a man
And you always seem outnumbered, you dont dare make a stand
Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play . . .
Verse 3
Later in evening, as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said . . .
Now that I have you all hummin that song for the rest of the day:lol: I just got done doing some sole searching and decided to "Turn the Page" in my life. Normally I wouldn't air this type of thing on the net but this site is like my second......OK, maybe third family. I'm an uber conservative type of person and this is a major leap for me. A little history: Most here know what I do for my day job in addition to the guide service, and I've been doing it for 24 years. I have a great supportive wife and 2 children whom I love dearly. I have been here in the DC area for 15+ years and it's been pretty cush to put it bluntly. Recently, I have been "on the road again" (see above:lol: ) and stepped into the limelight by doing so. Well, I have been offered and I have accepted, a position in Jacksonville, Florida heading up a division in a new office and while it is a major promotion (you know it had to be to get me out of my cushy DC gig!!), I am not moving the family. The wife and I had a long discussion about it and we feel it's best to keep my daughters world as stable as possible right now. Soooooo, it's off to Florida for me in the near future and I will get to maintain 2 residences!! The job I took will keep me on the road 99% of the time so living in Florida will be somewhat of a non-issue. I'll probably get home more than I am now!! The upside is I'll get to learn the finer side of saltwater fishing and will be very close to the Intercoastal and the St Johns river. Maybe I'll snag some of those monster Florida strain bass!! Y'All get ready to get some calls from me wanting to get out!! Trep, Big Dan, and anybody else down South, keep a seat open!! I'm sure the MVM will be visiting me once the northland freezes!!
