Turkey time...

I spent the last four days hunting turkeys with my dad at my camp in southern VT. I managed to call in this gobbler on Wednesday. 21lbs, 8" beard and 1" spurs. The beard on this bird is a little shorter than usual for a bird this big. I noticed that the other big gobblers checked in were the same way......might be from wearing them down in the deep snow that we had this past winter.



Dad wasn't as lucky as me, but we had a great time chillin' at camp. I'm glad that he's still able to make the drive up from PA. There will be a time that hunting/fishing will be just be a memory for him and I hope it's a long way in the future. He's already planning a trip to my house for some fishing on Champlain in June.
