I own one of the seldom seen Tundras. It is nice to look at but I have some problems maybe someone can help me with. First, any ideas on rod holders and down riggers? I wanted to mount some of the stuff on the top gunell but they are crowned to much. The rear deck is loaded with hatches, i wanted to use the Pusuit Sports rails but can not find any place to put them.

Second, the boat seems to handle poorly. The dealer is trying to figure it out but so far nothing. In calm water, on plane, the baot rides and handles fine. I have a 115 HP with a 21" pitch prop. If I turn hard or hit a wave the engine RPM's increase and the prop is cavatating. I have to trim it back down to get the prop to grab the water and start pushing the boat again. Several experienced people have driven the boat and agree something is wrong. The dealer tryed moving the motor up and down and wants to try changing prop sizes. Has anyone seen this problem and have any advice on how to address it?

Any other Tundra owners out there?

How does your boat perform in rough water?

Any problems with the livewells? Early 2001 models have some issues that the factory has a repair kit for.

Tim,

Glad to see you here....this is the place to get your questions answered and enjoy a laugh or two.

Tim...

I have a different boat (Magna 19) but used to get cavitation in hard cornering. I got a vented prop and it seemed to reduce to momentary "slip" and then back to bite...

Tim, my TV-18 will also experience prop blowout in rough water and in hard corners, but so does a non-Tracker boat I've driven. Trimming is the simplest and least-expensive solution. After that, I'd look at motor height, then at my prop selection. Maybe going to a 4-blade prop over a three blade would also help.

I agree with you about the curved gunwales and downrigger problem. Beautiful aesthetics, but poor practicality in the design. You could probably make some cash designing a retro-fit mount for downriggers.

I just recently purchase a used 2001 18' Tracker Tundra walkthrough with a 150 Optimax. Although I
