Ok, here it goes. I figured that all of you here could offer some valid opinions to my question. I currently have a 1989 Bass Tracker Guide V special on its original trailer. The only problem is that the axle is bent, the tires need replacing, and I am pretty sure there is rust on the inside of the trailer. Now with this in mind, I was considering just buying a new trailer for the boat. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am currently looking at a Loadrite, it looks as though the model will almost perfectly fit the boat. So my questin is what would you do?

Thanks,

Go to a trailer shop and get an estimate on what it would take to get your trailer back in shape. Make sure it is a 3rd party shop and not where you are looking to buy another. I would guess that there are some good deals out there on used trailers also. You don't have to buy new. How far in the future are you looking to possibly replace your boat? You won't get your $$ back from the purchase of a new trailer if it is soon.

Toxic,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not looking to replace the boat anytime soon, so I am not worried about losing money on resale. I figured for peace of mind I was going to replace so many other things on it, then it might be worth it to get a new trailer. How does this price sound, $750 for a galvanized trailer for a 16' boat that can handle 1750 lbs?

Hey Adam? I just checked you library and see that your boat is all electric. What are you useing on the back. I was looking at a MinnKota Vantage 101 lbs just wondering if I would be able to keep up with the fish??

I currently have a Minn Kota 42lbs thrust motor on the back. It tops out at a whooping 2.2 mph but I only use it on a relatively small lake (200 - 300 acres) It is a little slow going at times, but I usually dont fish too far from the launch. Any other question are welcomed.
