Hey guys. It's been awhile since I've been here. I went back to school to finish my degree last year and between that, full time job and 2 kids I haven't had much play time. I've only had my boat out 3 times this year!

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on repkacing hub seals on my Trailstar trailer with the E-Z lube hubs. It's a 2003 and doesn't really get "a lot" of use as far as long road trips. We take it to the Ozarks every year which is about a 6 hour trip one way. I don't have any grease inside the rims or anything like that and I put several pumps of fresh grease in there regularly. I see there is some, not much, dusty residue around the o rings that butt up to the hubs but there is definitely no grease anywhere.

Our Ozark trip is coming up so I've been trying to get things ready to go. The day we leave is the day I take my final for my summer class and it will be over...for a few weeks anyway until fall semester starts. So what do you think, pump new grease in them and be done or do you think I need to replace the seals? Thanks guys.

Jeff

Jeff, I am about to tow my 2004 trailstar/tracker 175 up to North carolina (600 miles) and checked my bearings last month. I would re-pack and put new seals. It is an easy fix and lots of peace of mind........the grease will fling out without tight seals especially at highway speed. Have a great trip.....kenny

Sounds like you don't have a lot of time so maybe this would be a good way to go. Take out the old grease gun and pump a full tube through each side. Maybe spinning the tire from time to time to mix the grease as it comes out.

Pump it up until you see new grease coming out the hubs and wipe off the excess.

If there's no grease coming out the back then, your probably good to go for awhile.

Check the hub temps with your hand every once in awhile when your on the road.

Mine lasted 4 years with alot of use before replacement:D
