Does anyone here have an opinion on the value of the extended warranty being offered by Tracker. They are offering me 4 additional years at $1380.00 (includes a $100.00 rider for salt water useage) on my Targa 18 with tha Mercury 90. There is a $50.00 deductable per visit, which can include multiple items per visit. Has anyone purchased this warranty? Have you needed it? Was it worth the money? I need to decide if I want it in the next few days beacuse my boat is a year old soon.

John..... This really is just my opinion..... But I've never purchased an extended warranty on anything. And I have never regretted it.

On the two Nitro's I've owned - one purchased new and the other used - I haven't had anything go wrong outside the initial warranty that I couldn't repair myself for $50 or less.

Again in my opinion, what you are purchasing, if you do buy the warranty, is Peace of Mind. That can be worth one heck of a lot.....

me!

John - I bought the motor to motor 5 year extended (4 years additional) on my 2000 PC 175 w/40 Merc. I've yet to use the ext. warranty as NOTHING has gone wrong. This was the first "real" boat I bought and having read/heard horror stories of guys "blowing powerheads" and some concern voiced other places about Tracker Quality, I bought it. First, the price is FULLY negotiable, it is NOT fixed like the boat price. So if the dealer REALY want's to sell it and make $$ they will deal, also there is a $25 deductible(or was in 2000). If I fished salt water I MIGHT get one next time, just due to the issues that MIGHT arrise, but first i'd read in DETAIL what is included and not on the saltwater one.

Only thing I had go on mine that would have been included was the bunk boards rotting at 3.5 years, but it cost me $25 in parts and 1 hour to do, so that's better then driving a hour each way to drop the boat off/pick it up and pay the $25 deductible!!!

Me, on my boat if I had to do it again knowing what I know, i'd NOT buy it! as it was an insurance policy i've not used!

John,

I have never bought one and never needed it. Not worth the $$. The little things that I have fixed would not even cost $50. Keep your money and go buy something for the boat.

david.....

If it's for the BOAT, that's hard to swallow. Remember, it doesn't (I'm guessing) cover maintenance or wear and tear. Therefore, the seats and carpet that rot because you left it out in the sun -- DENIED. The scratches from rubbing stumps - DENIED. The trolling motor already has a 2 year warranty I think, the pumps are cheap enough to replace and the hull is already under warranty. So, I'm not sure what it covers.

If that's a $100 rider on saltwater, meaning they'll pay a whopping $100 bucks for damage due to saltwater, run.

If it covers the motor as well, you at least have a reason to think about it. If it's on the boat only, I'd say walk...

Yeah, I wasn't clear about that. It's the boat, motor, trailer and all attached items that came with the boat. The $100.00 is an extra premium I have to pay because the boat is used in saltwater.

John -

Regarding the Warranty Rider.

There have been past reports here about Tracker denying warrantee claims for corrosion on boats when used in salt water.....

(I only seem to remember one or two and it has been some time.....)
