Hello all,

New to the membership, but by no means new to the board, just have to say this is a great place. After looking through BPS's master catalog I have a quick question maybe someone here can answer for me. Why is it that the bass boats and Nitros are all equiped with Motorguide motors, while the multispecies and some deep v's have Minn Kotas?

Just some of the things I ponder while waiting to go fishing again.

Thanks,

This is the first year that Tracker Marine began offering MinnKotas as an option on some boats.

I wish they would've done it in 2001.

My understanding is that both Tracker and MotorGuide are owned by the same company. They also own Mercury.

Nitro Bassin Dude,

Mercury does own Motorguide. But I am pretty sure that Tracker and Mercury are separate companies. But, for a definitive answer I'll defer to some more knowledgable folks. My belief is that Minn Kotas are probably much better motors... And, the "walleye" & "tin" crowd are much smarter than the "bass & glass" guys...LOL

Hey Greg! What about a Bass & Tin Guy? After all it is a "Bass Tracker". ;-) BTW I prefer MK too.

It IS the "tin" that is the "clue" to smart....

Brunswick Corp. owns Mercury and Motorguide/Quantum. The Marine Group owns Tracker and numerous other boat manufacturer's. Neither have any relationships within, other than business. Minn-Kota has been availlable for years as a re-rigging option. This year it is standard on some models, primarily due to their longer shafts on particular models, and customer requests. Just an FYI.

Thanks everybody for the replies. I agree that I think the Minn Kotas are the better motors. Only Minn Kotas on my boat and my dads boat (1989 guide v special).
