Sir,

My hat is off to you!

I'm 53 now, but even as a kid, I loved to fish. I'd go down to the "crick" with a pole made from a branch, sewing thread and bent straight pin. Or go to one of the local pay lakes where some of the men would teach me how to use a rod and reel. Unlike you, my father didn't make the time to take me. To this day, it still hurts to see the dedication at the end of Jerry McKinnis' show, The Fishin' Hole: "Dedicated to Dad! He always had time to take me fishing!"

You and Travis are getting the opportunity to share so much more than just the fishing! You're getting the opportunity to share thoughts and dreams! Ambitions! You are learning from each other and about each other! You are developing a bond and love for each other like few men will ever experience!

You two are so very fortunate!

God Bless!

A lot of people do not understand that fishing transends the boundry of mere sport or competition. It is a way to "re-connect" with nature for lack of a better word. It allows us to look inward and get in touch with who we really are. For some people that is an unknown by product but to some, like me, it is a requirement. I call it re-charging my internal batteries. When on the water, I lose stress anxiety, and shed all of the pressures of everyday life and reduce my being down to the lowest common denoninator. Some people meditate, I fish. When this can be shared with another individual whether it be son, daughter, wife or just about anybody, you open the door for meaningful exchange of feelings and ideas. That's why "fishing buddies" whoever they may be, are usually true friends and have shared something special.

Kudos to everyone who takes their kids (or even someone else's) fishing. My dad always took me hunting and fishing and we still get together and do both. Both of my kids love to fish and my 10 year old son is already hunting.

Travis, I echo what Scott,KB,Tox,and Bob G. said, my kids are the reason I bought my Tracker, and it's the best money I ever spent. I wouldn't trade a day (or night) out fishing with them for nuthin'...... God Bless, egMike

I think my dad would say the same about it too.

God Bless

My father never took me fishng and he was a great dad. My mom always took me when I wanted to go, but I was lucky enough to live near three golf courses and had plenty of water hazards to fish within walking distance of the house.

Mini

.....and he got bonked on the head a few times with golf balls which is why he is the way he is today!

My Dad use to take us ice fishing on Erie when I was a kid,..then he got me into golf when I was in Jr. and Sr. High School....we pheasant and rabbit hunted together too.

He wasn't into fishing open water but my Grandparents use to take me up to Houghton Lake and into Canada fishing for a week or two at a time....all of those things are still some of my fondest memories I have of growing up!! Now I have GREAT fun hangin' out with my buddies and my brother and his son, when we can get together. This summer we're taking my daughters and a couple of their friends down to Cedar Point for a couple of days of R&R...hotel/pool/'coasters,..sweeeeeet!!!!...I think ANYTHING a family does together is a good thing...regardless of the activity...."Every time is quality time!"..LOL (..I take that back.....I remember being in a car driving from NY to MI with a 2yr old trapped in a car seat for 10hrs....that was NOT QUALITY TIME!!!)

Funny how things change though,...she's a GREAT passenger now!!
