Throttle help

Help, I need to replace the shifter cable on my 700 lx, i believe it is frayed inside, but I am having trouble. Does anyone know an easy way of removing the throttle/shifter unit by the drivers seat. I believe the shifter arm needs to be removed first, but i can't seem to get it removed.

Not sure how yours works,but I replaced mine this spring.On mine the back of the shifter box has a cover that is held on with a few screws.Once the cover comes off,the cable pops right out.



Remember to tape a stout piece of twine to the old cable before pulling it through.

It will be alot easier to fish the new cable through with the twine to help pull it.
