Would you change out the thermostat on an 04 motor when changing the water pump just to be on the safe side? I have a steady beeping on my motor when running after 5-8 minutes and then it goes off when I idle. Mechanic on BBC says to go first to the source, water pump but I thought why not change thermostat along with the pump since it is an 04. Does anyone know if you use permtex on the thermostat gasket or no? Also, what type of grease do I use on water pump kit replacement ? If I remember right, grease the inside of the housing where the impella rides, correct? I did it 3 years ago....memory lost in time! Thanks for your input, kenny

might as well, they dont cost that much. My Merc 150 XR-6 has 2 one on each side of the block at the top. Simple to change.

I never used any type of gasket sealer and use dish soap instead of grease.
