Somebody needs to start a new cable channel called "The Fishin Channel". I was thinkin I would subscribe to a channel such as this. I mean the "weather channel" made it, the "cooking channel" made it, the do it yourself channel made it, and even the golf channel made it. Somebody needs to fork out some bux and start the fishin channel. I think this would be great for the boat and motor mfg's, lure makers, rod n reel companies, etc. Then you could watch the good fishin shows, the fish on girls, see last years BASS Tournaments and this years FLW Tournaments, and maybe get a few tips and laughs from the pro's and maybe even a special guest guide or something. Put up the results from all the local tourney trails and stuff. Sure would be better than most of the stuff on the tube anyways. Just thought I would express my opinion as I feel that I have been repressed or whatever. I bet it would work.

Only one problem, it would have limited viewership.

The only time fishing shows get watched, in my house anyway, is when I can't be out fishing.

Great idea for the winter though.

Sign me up! I'd love to have 12/24 fishing shows as long as it's about Bass fishing. I'll tune right out to fly fishing, deep sea fishing, carp fishing, and all else. I know I'm a bigot but it's the Largemouth Bass that drives me nuts. Tony's right all the good fishing shows come on when everybody's out actually fishing. Maybe fishing shows are similar to sex shows --- they're aimed at the people who aren't doing it more than the people who are.

exactly simnitro & soonerfan. the shows are on at times when we are out fishing. If we are not watching them, then who is? So if they were on when we weren't fishin, we would be watchin them. I doubt that any of the networks would put good fishin shows during prime time. There is a lot of things that they could incorporate into the show. Fishfinder comparisons, gps comparisons, boat maintenance, changin a impeller, product reviews, etc....

that reminds me as I caught the end of a show the other day and a guy was fishing for musky. Now I don't even know what one is, but that looks fun. Sure beats watching Sailboat races or bicycling on OLN. It might be raining tomorrow, but I'm goin fishin, even if I miss Performance Bass Fishing at 1:00.

Easy on Bill Dance now, lol

It's one of the shows my wife "tolerates" and I occasionally catch her singing along to the opening song, hehe, so I gotta give the man his respect.

Hey, I just had a thought, (and boy, did it hurt), gotta find a way to get a cd with all the "fishing show" songs on it, to absolutely drive the family nuts when we're driving along and I pop in a cd...or, just think, you pull up to a stoplight, windows down, beatiful woman in the car to your right, and Jimmy Houston's theme song BLASTING on the stereo ...... um..... on second thought.....

People like me watch the huntin' and fishin' shows from January to March cause I'm not out on the hard water!!

Hey Soonerfan, the first time you put a 5lb. bass on a fly rod you might change you mind. 12 inches and above makes a good fight. Some time new methods will produce.

I allways carry my flyrod in the boat, just in case the chance arrives.

CQ, you're probably right. Some of the best bass fights I've ever had was on my sons ultra-lite w/4# test. You get even a 2 or 3 lb bass heading into the reeds on that rig and it can be a real heart pumper. That's when you appreciate the stretch in mono.

Another type of fish I would like to go for is Muskie. Hooking into a pissed off 35 lb demon with teeth like an alligator has to be the thrill of a lifetime. One of these days.

Anybody ever fish Lake Shelbyville in Illinois?

I drove by there the other day for the first time and liked what I saw. It's about twice as far a drive for me as Carlyle - but I'm not real thrilled with Carlyle. Pickneyville is much deeper and it apparently has muskies..... May be a good place for me to put in for the first time this year.....

Never heard of Pinckneyville, Scott,

but I grabbed a book I have and it was in there, 165 acres, small,(my kinda lake) but North and West sides of lake good for bass, with wood and lilypads on the North and West sides, also says double concrete ramp on Southeast side, South banks are riprap. There's no mention of anything but LM Bass, crappie, cats, and bluegill. Don't know how old this book is but looks pretty deep near launch, up to 33 ft, and at least half the lake 10' or less, the book's the Sportsman's connection fishing map guide, Southern IL version, brother in law gave it to me when I got my boat, seen 'em at Walmart, egMike

Ah-h-h!!!!! What am I saying?????? Stoopid me!

SHELBYVILLE! I ment SHELBYVILLE!!!!!

(I'll change my post!)

lemme know if ya want a condensed report on Shelbyville Scott, it's in the book

Thanks, Mike!

At the boat show last weekend, I picked up some literature at a booth that was sponsored by the lake and the Illinois DNR..... Lots of good info including contour maps.....

If you could show fishing while the winter is kicking, and hunting during the hot summer, then you'd be set. You could call it the "Teaser Network".................sa
