After installing another new pump on My Detwiler Jack plate, i looked at the mesh screens that cover my thru the hull aerator fittings. One of them about an inch in diameter had something inside the mesh. So i unscrewed the mest covering just to get drenched by all of the water coming out. Apparently that something was a cap on the hose and the 1/2 to 1 gallon of water the hose was holding dumped onto me. Of course water sitting stagnant for a few weeks, maybe longer, does not smell very nice.

Now i got to thinking how water got into the capped aerator hose. And what the heck is that hose for? This after a year of ownership, well tonight in another installment of The Boat Ownership Chronicles i get to take all the baterries and oil tank out just to find out what the heck this hose is for. Probably damaging some more wire connectors while doing this thus creating more work for the next nights episode.

Have fun.
