Is there a better knot than a uni-to-uni for tying florocarbon leaders to powerpro? I am rigged up with 10lb test Powerpro with 20# test florocarbon leader. Although I like the way this system performs, I broke off quite a few times. Any suggestions?????

I am not sure where it is beaking. I only have a straight end on the powerpro at the break. (no knot or bent section left). I assume the powerpro is cutting the florocarbon but it may be breaking above the knot. Also, the 20# test makes a crappy uni knot, but I want all sorts of strength down there so I stay heavy. Again, looking for suggestions.....

Half hitch, like you learn in boy scouts. The tighter you pull, the tighter the know holds. Much easier and faster than uni to uni.

I don't often use a leader, but when I do, I use the K.I.S.S. Principle knot...... A double loop square knot.

I lay the two lines out with the leader extending as far from the end of the main line as I will eventually want it to be and a few inches of overlap..

Pick up the two lines and tie them at the overlap into a double loop square knot.

Trim the ends.

Simple!

And it works!

me!

A picture works better.....

Just trim off the plugs and you're ready to go!

Staci, I think you might get a little better casting distance if you back down to maybe a 250 lb test. Not sure if the floresent orange line is a good idea either.
