Andy, you've been contemplating buying this reel for a whole year now. Do yourself a favor.....

JUST BUY IT!!!!

I use the TDX reels and love them.. Keep in mind the model they have on sale is left handed and you cannot use in brackish or salt water. The TDX reels can be used in all types of water.

"WARNING: Not for brackish or saltwater, as magnesium is subject to corrosion. "

I think the reels Denny uses are TDX reels, but I may be mistaken.. either way they are both GREAT reels, also the Millionare is a great reel also.

I can't really speak for the left hand model, but I have 2 right hand TDZs and love them. I also have 4 TDXs that I also like. The TDZ is noticeably smoother and will outcast the TDX. It also feels much lighter.

Jon,

Its lighter because of the material used ( magnesium ) its lighter than aluminum. But has it draw backs,, no salt or brackish water...

I have a TD-S which is similar to the TD-X but the Td-Z is mucho better. I clicked the link you posted but BPS said that item did not exist.

I like the Daiwa OK. No complaints but I just don't feel a warm and cozy with it as I do my Curado SF's. I don't know why.

Take a look on Ebay for a reel marked "TD-S-103HL" (do a search for "Team Daiwa" to get them all)...

Apparently this is was a reel that was made for the Japanese market, that got shipped to the US by "mistake" and got closed out.

Average Ebay is around $90 bucks, I have one and it is a _very_ sweet reel...designed with flipping/pitching/palming in mind...

[email protected] also has them on BFHP for $89... if you email him tell him I sent ya....
