Took the boat out this past Saturday for it's first run of the year...

noticed that the Water pressure gauge was "pegged" all the way around to the pin, and it did not budge. Had good flow out of the engine, and never had any warning sounds.

I assume that this means that the gauge "froze up" over the winter? Is replaceing the gauge the first steps to fixing this, or are there other things I need to worry about?

Also, if this is the case, how to prevent it from happening next year?

Thanks all!

The water somewhere in that system freezes on me every winter... and at some point in time in the spring my starts working again... So you might wnat to wait till warm weather to decide on a cure.

I'm not sure if your gauge will recover or not. One thing that I do when I put my boat away for the winter is disconnect the water line from the back of the gauge while my boat/trailer is on an incline so everything drains out. I also tie-wrap a plastic container lid to the steering wheel that says "Water pressure hose is disconnected". That way I won't have to wonder where the water is coming from!!

Mine done the same thing and I was told to disconnect the tube from the guage to relieve any pressure and see if that cures it. If not they said it was probably shot. I havent tried it yet but will this weekend. I also found this link to install a pressure relief valve for the winter. Check it out! http://allisonowners.com/tdrain.html
