What is the strangest thing you have ever caught? I caught a pair of men's underware in the Clarion river one day.Looked to be about size 36 or so.I just got them up close and cut the line, luckily it was only a jighead and twister tail and not a $15 luckycraft.

While fishing a lake with my brother-in-law one day,we were throwing crankbaits. He snagged on somthing, after pulling for a minute it finally popped loose. When it came up one of the trebles had a big glob of hair on it.we went to a different spot after that.

And those big bullfrogs are hard to unhook from buzzbaits!

I caught a 15 lb. snapping turtle on a crankbait a few years back. I also caught a 5 lb channel cat by snagging the skin on the top of his head with a crankbait.

I hooked a dead Beaver and my friend (a non angler)in my boat wraped his line around a Gull's neck and the fight was on I had to get him out cause my tuff guy friend was as far away in the boat as he could get LOL I got the Gull out and then shook it at him and threw it just over his head, he almost fell in LOL

I actually caught, as one of my EARLIEST memories of fishing, a six pack of Budweiser at the famed Metro Beach in Mt Clemens, MI (the launch site for all the national tourneys on St Clair). It was tied to the sea wall by a forgetfull boater. I was reeling in on about my 10th cast of the day with a crawler harness and the rod stopped....I pulled with all my might....made Mom happy, she was really the one who took me and hooked me. This had to be about 1970.....

While casting for bass near the Florida Everglades many years ago this gator about 18 inches long grabbed my rubber worm! He was released without being harmed as he missed the hook and just had lots of rubber jammed in his mouth!

Anybody evercaych a 25lb carp on a jigging spoon an 12lb line?

How bout a freshwater Drum?

A dogfish on a Classic spinnerbait?

A 2lb perch on a 10" worm?

It seems to me that i spend more of my tome unhooking the fish I dont want, that I hardly ever have time to catch a bass it seems.

The carp was mouth hooked and not snagged. I took me 20min to get him in and I wound up by loosin the treble hook cause he snapped it just as my dad got the plires in his mouth.

The drum came on a crankbait. Oh btw did you gus know that a freshwater drum reels in like a Pinwheel.....yup found and round they go untill they get to the boat.

The perch was just a surprise cause we were fishin some small lake a for bass but that thing just hit like a bass.

The dogfish is another story.

Yea this is a typical day for fishin for me the 14 year old catch it all.

on the paupac,i hooked into what i thought was the biggest stripper i ever had, turned out to be an anchor with about 10ft of rope on it.plastic coated anchor which to this day is in my boat.

another year while trolling lake ontario for salmon hooked into a big salmon, too bad it was a dead one, fought like a live one till i got it in close enough to see it.

caught zebra mussles on lake ontario, rocks, lures,a turtle fishing for trout,a bullhead while trolling for bass on lake ontario.

Last year I was musky fishing up in northern Wisconsin. We were going after suspended fish in deep water 40+ feet. I was throwing a crankbait that dives probably 12 feet when comething hit it hard. Not really fighting but you could feel the line give a foot here and there. Well the water is quite clear and I soon could see my bait about 10 feet down and it had what looked like a human head with long scraggly hair attached to it. Finally got it to the boat and what I had snagged was an old anchor and rope, the rope had frayed and had buildup on it so the frayed rope looked just like someones hair.

I was fishing in Lake Hamilton in Ark for bass when I caught a 12-14 lb drum on a wiggle wart crank bait; I had just hooked several 12-14 inch bass when he hit; visions of giant bass soon turned to bewilderment when I finally got him to the surface.

Had a few strange catches over the years. Once while split shotting a finess worm I caught a huge freshwater clam. It must have been open and pinched on my shot while I was popping it back. It clamped on it like a vise-grip.

I once caught a big eel while smallie fishing on a grub. I was having a great day with smallies and when I had this hook up and I thought I was on my way to a state record. I thought the smallie had gotten himself into some huge rocks so I drifted the boat back to him. When it freed up and I got it to the top of the water I don't know who was more excited to see each other me or the eel. Had a heck of a time getting my jighead back.

Got a few channel cats on crankbaits over the years. They seem to like the firetiger pattern.

And my best strangest catch was landing a Charlie Brewer Slider Rod W/ a Mitchell 300 reel on it. Caught it in the Deleware River while fishing some tidal water. Must have been lost the day before. No damage, as new condition.

30 lb longnose gar on a crankbait last year in a tourney. He cleared the water totally 3 times (he thought he was a marlin). Finally got him in on 12# test. I wanted that crankbait back. Let him go, of course, after a few pics. Caught a pair of swim trunks this year already.

Strangest fish would have to be a paddlefish...

Ever seen one of these catfish up close (some people call them a spoon-bill catfish)...

Talk about pre-historic looking...

Caught several in a river in Indiana back in the 70s...

A close second would have to be a burbot...pretty ugly for a freshwater fish!

Pulled in all kinds of other misc stuff...

ropes with anchors attached...

2 complete rod/reel combos...

My mom caught a seagull once, that was interesting. Did the clam thing and almost on the beaver. No gators up here so never did that. But by and far the oddest catch I have ever reeled in.....NO joke, a strap on sexual tool for feminine enjoyment! About 12" so my buddy claimed it was a keeper, but I cut the line and let go of my spoon! LOL We cracked up something fierce on that one. I knew if he hadn't beent there to witness it, nobody would believe me. At first I thought it was a PFD until it got close. LOL Now I can say I've caught EVERYTHING!!!

THOUGHT it was a PFD as I was reeling it in I saw the straps and thought it was a SOSpender style. As the muck washed off in the river current I realized what it was just as I was about to reach down and unhook it! LOL I was fishing in the river mouth in downtown P'burgh. Some guy and his girlfriend walked by and wanted to see what I had "landed"! LOL He cracked up, but it took her a minute to put it all together, then she just went red! LOL Funny thing is I predicted that it wouldn't last 2 days on the shore and it didn't. Must have found a new home somewhere! And it was fairly waterlogged so it was BIG! Someone is very "satisfied" somewhere! LOL And up to that point I THOUGHT I had seen it all. You just never know!

A dog....casting on shore, it surprised me and took off with the lure. I struggled to cut the line, so I have no idea if it got stuck or not.

I caught a 2lb BullFrog on a 7" Berkely Powerworm Texas rigged.

I also caught a rock that was covered in Zebra Muscles.

I've also caught several sun turtles while bluegill fishing with a worms and bobbers.

Hey you Northeasterner...

Get used that "rock covered in Zebra Mussels" thing if you're going to fish the Great Lakes! LOL
