I hope someone can help. My steering on my 700lx was getting stiff, so i ready my manual on how to add lubricant. It says to add it though the grease fitting on the line before the tilt tube, mine doesnt have the grease fitting. I figured i could just remove the steering cable, grease it and put it back, but everytime i try to loosen the fitting, the entire tilt tube wants to screw itself out. What can I do?

thanks

i am going thru the same issue. teleflex in theif infinante wisdome do not put a greese fiting n the cable. and on my 94' 170 tf nitro, the motor has to come off to swap cabes. (unless there's a genious out there who has a special technique...

pardon the spelling... i'm a dope

Tenkiller Marine in Oaklahoma sells the eye-bolt that screws in the flywheel for $35.00 so you can pull the motor. I put a leaf spring u-bolt thru the ceiling with a piece of angle iron across the rafters. Bought a come-along, worked like a charm. You only have to pull the bolts out so you can turn the motor to pull out the old cable and install the new one.
