Reading my Bassmaster mag the other night and an article said St Clair is trying to become a "Great Lake"! LOL Ha Ha Ha....that's funny! Champlain is more than twice it's size and when it was deemed a great lake everyone out in MI and OH had a FIT because Champlain was too small? So we got the funds and backing but they yanked the great lake "status". That's why we don't get included in federal help for cormorants and zebra mussels. What a crock. Funny that hypocracy thing huh???? LOL Anyway, just thought I'd share the laugh. What's next? Okechobee???? LOL

Since LSC acts as such an important waterway connecting Erie and Superior (important to both interstate AND international commerce), I see no reason why it should not be granted Great Lake status.

Exactly,.......EVERY SINGLE freighter going from Chicago to the Atlantic passes through St.Clair!!!....they merely cruise on by Champlain with barely a glance....can't you New Yorkers come up with your own ideas??...You're always tryin' to take credit for someone else's glory,...but we are jealous of one thing....YOU HAVE HILLARY!!!!!...LOLOLO

OK, you can have her! No fight here! Champlain is connected to the Hudson and the St Lawrence and IF we had any commerce in the area that warranted barges they would be here too! LOL We have interstate NY/VT and international commerce as well. Quebec has the top 5% of Champlain. Just strikes me as funny that some of the same people that ranted and raved that Champlain was too small to be considered a great lake are the same people wanting St Clair, and even smaller lake to be given that status. I don't care either way, just found it humorous.

I only fished it one week 2 years ago.. I would not say it's a great lake.. but a purty darn goodun..
