Santa brought me a .22 Marlin bolt action rifle!

I put about 100 rounds through it at the range this evening. It was thoroughly enjoyable. The target below was at 75 feet, using the iron sites from a standing position. Seems like the bullets go where you point the gun, right out of the box.

Also managed to get out on the water today with Jeanne. No fish to report, but after a cold, crisp morning, the sun warmed things up and it was a beautiful day with flat water and little wind.

Hope everyone had a good holiday.

Rich, I have had an 880ss for several years and it is a wonderful rifle. I ahve a Burris 3x9x45mm scope on mine, and only feed the cci minimags through it. It seems to like the hollow points the best, but only marginally. I tried some cheaper rounds through it and it scattered them to the wind, all over the paper. Must be the Microgroove rifling. I know you will enjoy your new Rifle, congratulations.

Nice Rich. Sadly, around here there's not much squirrel plinking to be had around the holidays. Our squirrels have been battling some serious social vices for some time, and this time of year...well, they're just not in much shape to shoot at:

ROFL@Terry!

Rich -

Now..... Get yourself a 4x scope with a 1" tube that is parralax-free at 50 yeards. Head shots all day long! .22 shorts are good in populated areas - even though you may have to load them one at a time. Squirrel stew is delicious when allowed to simmer all day in a crock pot - they're just a pain to skin and clean. However, if you get a chance to hunt in Terry's neighborhood, they come pre-marinated! You can use the tail fur to tie flies!

me!

Rich,

If you do start eating them just remember they are high in cholesterol. LOL.

Rich, put a scopt on like me said and stick with the CCI's, they are a premium .22 round. But try to find Match grade hollow points and at 75 yards you will be able ruin any squirrel's day. Guns always make good Christmas presents!

Aha ,

Squirrel pot pie ,whata joy to the taste buds.Anybody here shoot any of them big fox squirrels ?? I see one here a while ago looked to 10lbs .Whata a critter.
