I just took my PT 165 in to my Dealer in Grapevine for a small 1 1/2" split in the seam where the transom meets the floor. The Service writer remarked "Oh Great, another one!" Further questioning revealed that this was an issue with these boats (I wish I had known this before I bought it). That small crack would let in water up to the carpet in about 2 hours! Have any of you had this problem, and was it recurring? Good news is they will have it fixed in 2 days and I don't have to cancel my trip to Fork next Wednesday!!!

I know Barb has a PT165 and she had water problems a while back. I wonder if she has/had the same problem and got it fixed. Barb, you out there??

If she doesn't answer..... If I remember correctly, Barb's problem was just a loose rivet or two. Nothing near as severe as a split seam.

Split Seam,...severe???...NOT!!...sounds like a 5 minute weld job to me,..............complete transom seperation is "severe"..LOL

Well, I took it to BPS on Thursday, they promised I would have it by Wednesday, and I indeed got it back Tuesday afternoon. I think it is fixed. Man,the weld is ugly (with a capital ugh!), but it seems to have cured the problem. Went to Lake Fork Wednesday (moon phases said it would be the best fishing day of the year) and got completely skunked!!! Argh!

Thanks,

Craig
