Smart Craft and HDS7

Hi all, i have been trying to connect my Merc Smart Craft Gauges to my HDS7 via NMEA0183 for GPS speed on my guages with no success. I have wired it a couple of different ways as people have suggested online with no success. Has anyone got this functioning currently ?

I have a NMEA 2000 network with HDS units and a Merc Monitor. Every thing works back and forth, but I can't get the GPS speed from the HDS to the Merc Monitor. Not a problem for me cause I don't really need my speed on my Merc Monitor. I think I could get it to work if I hooked up the NMEA 0183 wires, but I havent tried. Take a look at this thread at BBC, lots of good info and wireing diagrams.
