I was on my way to meet some friends in downtown DC early this morning. I ran late and missed them, so I went fishing instead. Throwing a crankbait from the shore within sight of the Lincoln Memorial, got 5 smallmouth (all under a pound) and 2 strong catfish, 3-4 pounds each, all in less than 2 hours. All of them were hanging right against the rock wall in 2-3 feet of water. Not bad for a day when I didn't think I would be fishing at all!:D

Nice job on the smallies! Blue cats sure do like those small crfanks huh? I have found they really like the Spro's best for me. What was the water temp up there?

The cats hit and ran like a freight train, thought I had stripers on at first! I was using a "silver buddy", basically a weighted flat spoon. Not sure what the temp was, I was just throwing from shore.

Way to go Mac! Never have caught smallies on the stretch anywhere below Chain Bridge. Need to try more often!! Hopefully, after I'm back in town for a stretch.
