Here is another reason why they put safety chains on your trailer

Yep it's real...That pic's been around awhile:) Interesting that looks to be a good size boat and would be willin' to bet there's a curve just beyond eyesight to the left. Most people don't realize...Making a boat go down the road is easy...IT'S STOPPING all that weight at once that's a problem.

Yeah good thing it was...It would have definitely went OVER if it'd been anything else. Like a ROCK!
 
If I remember correctly, he was pulling off to the side to allow others to pass and hit gravel and just skidded right along...

I know the feeling. The old roads that used to go down to Dale Hollow were unbeliveable! We once locked the wheels up on the truck and was watching the trailer come up along side of us! Pretty scary stuff to say the least....Hard tp stop 4000 lbs. without trailer brakes...ouch!
 
The next new boat and trailer I buy will have trailer brakes. I had a few close calls.
