Rod Locker for TX17

I have a 1982 Tracker TX17 and am tired of not having any place to put my rods away. Has anyone tried to cut into the front storage area and build a rod locker on the port (passenger) side? Also, extending the front casting deck with additional storage underneath? Does this seem like something that will work without causing problems, other than added weight? Probably will need to use 3/4 inch Marine grade plywood? Thanks for any input.

Check the "Grab Bag" under "Resources" under the menu for this site and you'll find several plans for making your own rod storage organizer. I recently made one for my Targa 17 and it works great. I used a plastic cutting board for the frame and just wedged it in the storage box. You can drill the holes out on the plastic cutting board just like it was wood.
