After day two Rob is in 107th place with 10 fish that weighed 23.02.

The leader after day two had 10 fish weighing 37.11.......wow thats a tough spread

Buzz is in 70th place with 7 fish weighing 20.11. If Buzz would have weighed ten fish I think he would have been close to the top.

Keep at em boys....all it takes is that one fish to jump you up there.

Never give up!

On day one the wind just kept blowing me off my spot. If I had had a 520 with a 52" TM I might have had a better shot! But that's how it goes. I just hammered it out the best I could. I had 5 fish with 10 lbs 15 oz. Then yesterday it was slick as glass and I fished the EXACT same water. When we got there, on his first cast my co-angler pulled a 4 lber. Later on another spot he got another 4 lber. Those 2 hurt me, but what was worse was that I didn't execute well yesterday. I broke two BIG fish off (using light line down deep) and had 2 fish jump and throw the hook. If I had played those 4 fish better I likely would have been up around my co-anglers weight which was just shy of 16 lbs. So I was on fish, but my co caught all my big ones! LOL We caught over 60 fish yesterday. My co said it was the best day of fishing he's ever had in his life either tourney or otherwise. He broke his previous 1 day FLW weight record and was stoked about that.

So maybe I'm supposed to be a guide and not a pro???? LOL We'll see next year if I decide to keep fishing them. It's time for some serious reflection about tourney fishing. I never cashed a check this year in any tourney and that has never happened to me before.

Buzz did really well yesterday and I'm glad he did. Too bad he didn't do better on day one or he would be fishing today. They also went to a top 10 cut from top 20 like before and that makes it really tough. However, due to angler protest they're going back to a 20 cut next year for the 3rd day and THEN a 10 cut for the final day.

I'll try to post more later but I'm on my way out to take a friend who is a reporter for FLW out for some smallies.

Funny thing Rob...I have never faired well in tournies but, take that pressure off and the game is on! One reason I don't do em' anymore...besides the older I get, the more I want to slow down:D

Rob, I can't claim to be the caliber of fisherman that you are!! I don't fish in the FLW owned tournaments... Don't agree with the Irwin method!!

I may be wrong, but it seems to me the guy in the back of your boat might have rattled your game a little. He caught HIS fish.. you may have put him on 'em, but he caught his fish!!

I taught myself a very valuable lesson a few years ago that changed my fishing tremendously.

Fish against the FISH,... not the fisherman. I don't care if theres a hundred boats around me.

I don't have to beat them... i have to beat the fish.

Keep plugging away at this, one day you will get where you want to be.

Humble yourself, you don't see all the boys who have made it to the BIG SHOW waving the flag.. it opens yourself up for post like this one!!

I'm not bustin' on ya...

...serious reflection....sounds like a good idea....tourneys are getting expensive.

Rob

Don't let it burn you out on fishing. Along time ago my father in law told me I would burn my self out if I continued fishing like I was. I thought he was nuts. He wasn't. I almost did burn myself out. I still lack the intensity I used to have but have gotten back most of my love of fishing. Just no more tournaments for me thanks.

Your not me Rob, but your intensitity does remind me a lot of what I was. Take care.

Setting that aside. You hung in there and didn't quit. If it's what your meant to do. I'll happen.

I always like to watch the guys at the tournies at Caeser's Creek so I can run ahead of em' and catch all their fish:D:huh:

And then GPS their spots and give 'em out to everybody!!!

They can GPS em' but, it won't help....Alot of guys fish my spots and still don't produce:lol:

Hey kb,

What exactly do you mean by a thread like this? Nobody is flaming Rob.

Personally I think 10 fish that weigh 23 lbs is a great accomplishment. It just sucks that after having two pretty good days on the water that there are 106 people between you and 1st place. I think its a product of the lake not the quality of anglers.

Wolf, I said a POST like this one..... Not the thread!!!!!

I am responsible only for my comments!!!!!

I'm not flaming Rob, either

Just some constructive input!!

Don't beat yourself up, Rob.

You went out and competed. You caught fish and you weighed in a respectable total. That's something to build on, whether you continue fishing tournaments or not.

I still had a great time, I really enjoyed the second day fishing with pro Dale Wilson,(33 years fishing tournaments) he was so helpful. He answered all my questions, I usually go into these tournaments with the mind set to gather more knowledge by hopefully getting drawn with a pro that has extensive fishing experiance and knowledge. I then use the opportunity to ask questions pertaining to tactics/patterns/etc and hopeful that the pro is willing to answer my questions and Dale was more then willing.. This was Dale's first time fishing this lake and he wants to come back up to do some fun fishing and learn other spots as he wants to do this tournament again next year and he invited me to tag along. I couldn't have asked for a better fishing day, the weather was great, the fish were biting, and I had a pro who taught me some new tactics. Here's to next year....
