I had another conversation this afternoon with a lady at BPS who can help make this idea a reality.....

She tells me that it would be almost impossible for people to just donate "points" to be used to purchase fishing equipment for needy kids - their system simply isn't set up to handle that kind of arrangement. (Not YET anyway.....) However, we could convert some of our points to "gift cards", collect the gift cards and use them that way..... She said that they would also be willing to work out some sort of discount on merchandise.

Now, I can see where this could easily grow quite large in scope..... To the extent that BPS would want to get more heavily involved..... But it has got to start off small. With us. And, if it succeeds the first time, it will be given a chance to grow from there.....

I'd like to suggest that we combine this with our rally next year. As we start to promote the rally, we also promote donations of "BPS Awards Points Gift Cards" to be used to purchase kids' equipment. We wouldn't just give away the equipment - some of us would take them out to a well-stocked lake and take them fishing! Then, they would have the equipment to take home with them. I'd like to be able to do this with "special needs" kids.....

OK, everyone! Please! Give me some feed-back!

Thanks and God Bless!

me!

Scott,

Ous BASS clubs, North Shore Bass Anglers sponsored a "local" Casting Kids Contest. We "scrounged" for donations of cash and equipment to make it happen. I think some kind of effort by us to donate reward points certificates to any local organization willing to do a Casting Kids for Special Needs kids would be great. As an aside, we (7 other "boaters' and I and our club officers) are taking the top 8 finishers from our Casting Kids day out for a six hour on the water tournament. Prizes of fully rigged rod/reel and tackle box for all 8 and trophies for all have been arranged. So the possibilities are limitless. I'm with you on this one.

BPS has reward points? How do you earn them? They have at least $600 from me this year and I haven't heard about any points?

Apparently if I don't know about them, then I'm not missing them. If there was some way to donate them to children then I'm all over it. Sign me up!

Scott,

Set up a fund! I'd contribute.

Maybe if you set up a non-profit org BPS would cut a deep discount or a "Matching Contributions" deal for you. Also, if it is a non-profit org, many companies will put up matching funds for employee contributions!

Starting a 401-c3 isn't too hard..... It's the up-keep that's a b####. For right now, I think that it would be better to follow the KISS principle....

What I'd really like to know is how many people might contribute? Guess I'd better start a different thread with that specific question.....
