I have a fuel gage that won't work how do I remove the gages from a Maga 17 Fish/Ski

or how can I check it to see if it works right?

Thanks

Greg -

Fuel guages in boats are notorious for not working. And, if they do work, they read improperly. It's likely not the guage itself but the sending unit.

About 5 years ago, Bass & Walleye Boats Magazine did an article on how to rig the fitting for the sending unit in the tank so that it would work properly - at least some of the time! It would have been so much work to get to it on my Nitro 180 that I just decided to keep doin' it the lod fashioned way - check the fuel level by looking at the shadow on the side of the plastic tank!

Save yourself a lot of trouble, bux and frustration - just fill the tank to the top before every trip!

me!

From the back. Two nuts a bracket and the wires and the gauge pulls out the front.

Are you sure the gauge is broken?? Did you test it by using a jumper wire from the sender to a known ground.

Has the boat been sitting all winter with an empty tank. On my 170, I let it sit with an empty tank for a few months and the sending unit got stuck to the bottom of the tank. After an hour or two on the lake the sender must have come loose and the gauge started reading.
