Removal of "Spots" on Engine Cowling

About a year ago there was a posting to remove the "white spots" off of engine cowlings that worked great. It was a mixture of vinegar and water but I do not remember the proportions of each. I did a search for this posting but came up empty handed. Can anyone help me out?

I use a 1 part vinegar to 4 parts of distilled water. It does work well.

Wayne, I don't know the vinegar formula, but I have used Meguiars #1 Paint Cleaner with great results. Found in the wax section of an automotive store.

Get yourself a bottle of Meguiars or Mothers quick detailer. Just spray and buff.

I use this stuff after every trip on all painted parts.

I've used Meguiar's Liquid Gold on the gunwales, painted/decaled sides, and the motor cowl, and it's held up real well. Watch stepping on the gunwales, it's pretty dang slick from the waxing...and shiny



I also used it on the trailer and rims.
