Got a quesiton about the trolling motor that fits on the front of our new 188. According to the tracker brochure it will store in the large storage area up front. But we are novices in such matters and it is too long to fit in the opening. I emailed Tracker for help and can you believe their response was to ask my dealer? If my dealer knew anything I would not have asked Tracker to begin with. The dealer doesn't stock FS boats and ours was the first 188 they have seen. Does anyone have any experience on this ?

I have the same boat. In order to get the trolling motor into the front storage, take the prop off first (be careful not to lose the nut and pin, I put mine in a small baggie). Then you still only have half a chance of it fitting. I did it once, and now I just leave it on, not worth the trouble. If I'm gonna take it off, it's going in my workshop or garage. I also run a rubber coated aircraft cable around and through the bracket and shaft and lock it to the grab handle near it. That way it can't be pivoted far enough to remove and steal. Of course, if someone really wants it, they're gonna get it.
