Anyone ever send their reels to BPS for reconditioning and repair? It seems a little pricy as advertised in the catalog but still cheaper than a new reel, barely. I have tried before with little success to do it myself. I can lube them on a limited basis, but inevitably, if I try to make repairs, I end up buying a new reel. You can drop me off under the hood of my truck and I'm fine. But open up a Daiwa in front of me and I'm lost! I have a couple of reels that I really like and don't want to get rid of. Also, Neeley, my new pro qualifier started acting up. I have a 1 year warranty right? I think it just went past though. It's binding up. Another is a nice spinning reel with an obvious bearing problem. You can hear it grinding. Then finally, my old faithful, Quantum Iron, (the kind they don't make anymore) and the only Quantum I've owned trouble free, is starting to get "raspy". I think the spring in the cast control is getting compressed and has to push left in it. Anyhow, any of you guys coming to the rally, reel gurus?

have you ever tried the "reel doctor" in whitehall? i think they are still in buisness.1-518-282-9814. they can also get you any part you need. i think they do repairs too. stan

also rob i put new switches for my livewells(16.00 each) and new relays(29.00 each) and my livewells work perfectly timed and full. i'm telling you this because we have the same boat. and i remember you saying yours didn't work. thanks stan

The place you may want to try is Heartland Tackle Service, he bought the old Lake Fork Rod and Reel. i personally know jim and know he does a great job on cleaning reels... his website is www.heartlandtackleservice.com Hope this helps.

Stan, were did you get the switches? Only place I've seen them is Cabelas and boaterworld for about $28 each. Relays are for trim or livewell? If the livewell, where do they go? I'll try the reel doctor, thanks.

Rob, the livewell pumps don't use relays. I think what you are speaking of is the timer module, and it is located under the dash probably close to the livewell switch. It's usually cylinder shaped, about 1 1/2 X 2 1/2 inches and should have a rectangular plug on it.

livewell relays were at alphin haus in clifton park. the plugs were different but the same number of wires and the same colors. so i cut the plugs off the old relays and attatched them to the new relays and the plugged right in. they are under the dash near the radio and the steering. mine were red and the size of film canisters.they took about a week and a half to get and they will need your hull number to order the right ones. thanks stan
