I sold my Grizzly and I'm looking at the Q3 Fish and Ski. Im having a hard time desiding on 150 xr6 or 4.3 Mercruiser. I would use this boat in fresh and salt water. I think the 4.3 is 210 HP. Which would be better? Thanks Jerry

Depends on you and the applications. My friend has a 4.3 merc in a cuddy/ski cruiser and he loves it. I find them easier to work on since I'm used to auto engines. Plus you're not always putting in 2-cycle oil. Down side is that an outboard can run shallower. As for parts, I would think the IO would be cheaper, maybe not. The XR6 is reputed as being bullet proof though. I know this much BOTH are gas hogs! Good luck.

Deerchaser - One more thing to think about between the OB and the I/OB is the very DIFFERENT rear deck space. The Mercruiser give you a HUGE back deck compared to the VERY limited deck with the OB. Check the pictures out (if you've not already seen it) at www.trackermarine.com and see for yourself. I wish they'd just redesign the rear transom and mount the OB farther back and give you the same rear deck space as the I/OB.

Of course make SURE you get the Galvanized trailer! Good luck and let us know which way you go!

One other thing to think about is that with the O/B, you can hook up a hose and flush her out after salt water applications, but with the I/O you need a closed cooling system to properly flush the engine...it adds approx. $1200.00 to the cost.
