I am looking to purchase a couple extra baitcasters, I have fished exclusively with Daiwa TDX and Millionare models for the past several years. I am looking at the Quantum Kevin VanDam 600CX. Any likes/dislikes apprectiated. At 79.00 seems like a pretty good deal..

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

I have had two of these reels and both developed the same problem over time. They started out really smooth and after time the engagement went bad...the handle would turn 8-15 times before it engaged the gears. Of course I have a regular 600 series and it has been bulletproof for years so maybe I just got a bad batch or something.

I'd be interested to hear if others have had the same problem as a buddy of mine experienced it with a regular 600. (Of NOTE Quantum handled the customer service on both reels quite well...good company)

Anyone dropped 200.00 on the new PTI baitcaster by Quantum, I'd be curious how it compares to the Daiwa TDX model, their both the same price.. Now I am think maybe just drop 200.00 on another high end reel instead of getting 2 600CX's. I have realy never had any problems with my Daiwa TDX's ...coffee grinder models :)

I have 2 of the PTI spinning models and can't say enough about the quality, SUPER reel for under 100.00.

Not familiar with that model but I do own a Quantum E600 that Kevin used in tourneys. I have used that reel every year since it was new in 97 and have never had a problem with it.Just estimating I would say that reel has easy 3500 hours on it(500 hrs min yr x 7 yrs).Best $100 I ever spent on a reel!

The website does not have the specials...you need to get the sale flyer from the store nearest you, must be in-store specials. Good deals, but they are selling very fast...sale goes through next Saturday or Sunday.
