Does anyone out there have problems fueling your PT 165? I have checked the fill hose and not appear to be kinked or restricted in any way. But when I try to fill the tank, I have to fill it as slow as I possibly can, and it STILL burps fuel back at me. It takes about 10 minutes just to crank 6 gallons into the tank. Any suggestions or fixes out there?

Thanks,

Craig

BTW, BPS says this is a "normal" problem, but they can check it out the next time I have it in.

I have a PT 175 with the same problem. I goes in alittle better if you turn the filler around 180 deg. or upside down however you look at it. But, most of the time I fill from a plastic gas can I have just for my boat. I have no problems filling from that.

Every boat I have owned that has built in tanks do that. The only thing that helps a little for me is to pull the nozzle out slightly, it still takes about ten minutes to pump 30 gallons of gas though it seems.

I've had my boat 2 1/2 years (a PC 175) and i've yet to figure this one out. Some days going 180 works at medium speed and others 180 at any speed spits it back out every 2 seconds. Same on pulling the nozzle out a little each time it backs up. What i've found is after about 3-4 minutes no mater which way i try to fill it, it evenualy gets better and can then go medium (but never HIGH) speed fills!

To back up Tracker, i'd say YES this is Normal!

Guys, I'm not sure about your models but I'll share a story with you. My last boat, a SeaArk zx180 had the same problem you guys are having, the problem is the venting of the tank. What I did was unscrewed and took off the vent fixture ( which took the 1/2 inch vent hose down to a small pinhole) while I filled the tank, then replaced the fixture to keep the right pressure in the tank. Lokk at the vent on your boat. You may be able to do the same. Good Luck I know that you would rather spend that 20 min fishing.

Big Jon

PS. my new nitro fills like my truck, as fast as I can pump.

I have a PT165 also, and have had the same problem. I just pull the nozzle out a little. I have to be careful when it gets close to full.

I had the same problem with my two previous boats. I now have a Targa 1900 with 40 gal. tank and am glad I don't have that problem with this boat. Just turn the nozzle on full and wait for it to fill.

OK guys, how do you "remove" the venting tube? Is it easy to get out? I assume that the venting was part of a single plastic housing that has the lid on the gas entry point.

I guess i'll have to go out to the boat and see!
