Looking to purchase a 2003 700 LX and was wondering if there is any issues or concerns with this boat? Also could someone explain the difference between the 700LX and the 750NX.

Thanks in advance.

Hey! You're not Gene, I am!

Gene, I have a 1998 700 LX with a 125 HP Merc. I can tell you I have had no issues whatsoever with this boat. It runs great and fishes extremely well. More than enough storage even for a tackle junky like me. With that said, remember it is still only a 17 ft. boat and although it handles rough water ok it is not made for huge bodies of water. I have run it on the Chesapeake Bay many times but you must watch what you may get into. If you fish mainly inland lakes and rivers you will love it. What motor? If you have any other questions fell free to ask me. Beck

Gene - I just sold my 1999 700lx to a great guy in Alabama. The boats are solid and well made, depending on the motor they can outrun some 150hp 18fters. That said, like any boat, its up to how well it was maintained, both physically and mechanically if it is a good boat.

I had the 115 Merc on mine, she ran low 50's all day, and a few times a year in the cool southern winter i could tick her to 57 mph on my GPS. But day in day out that was a rock-solid fishing machine. Now to be honest, if you are 6'4" 285lbs the console is gonna be a tight fit. But i've fished 2 onboard in many tourney's with no issue, and 3-4 total if we watched our casting. Great on gas and lots of options to upgrade if you want (Hot Foot, Pro Trip, Electronics, Radio, Lights, SPeakers, water pressure guage....).

Thanks for the info guys. The boat has a 2003 90hp 4-stroke Mercury,74# 24v minkota trolling motor, lowrance gps/sonar combo,2 bank charger for trolling motor, no cover but was always kept inside when not in use, and he is asking $8000. Is it priced right or what should a guy counter with?

sounds overpriced.

N.A.D.A. prices this boat with a 75hp in avg to good condition retail @ $5,435

low retail is @ $3,700.

this pkg sold for $13,000 new in 2003 ten years ago.

it's value will continue to drop and in 5 years will be worth 2500 tops.

that said if it is in excelent cond, the motor checks out with your mechanic,

the hull and seat material look brand new you may consider 6k being a max offer.

to offer more is just foolish when there are many boats out there at great prices ,

just hold your cash bide your time and a great deal will present it self.

my two cents.
