I'm trying to get my name out a little bit and get some more publicity. When it comes to asking for a sponsor I figure it would be better to say "my name has appeared in Fishing Magazine A" or I have written articles for www.fishing.com and stuff like that. I met a guy on another forum the other day. He is starting a magazine/website in Texas. Its going to be Texas Fishing Magazine. He was wanting some people to write some articles for it. Its all voluntary but I told him I would help him out and I also told him my dream and that I thought this would help get my name out a little bit.

So anyway I say this. I sent him my first article yesterday with a small bio and a couple of pictures. The article isn't online yet but my bio and pics are. they can be seen at the following address. http://www.rdlwebs.com/texasfishingmagazine/bjlaster.htm

I'm excited about it. I am also going to be sending him a few more in the next couple of weeks.

If ya'll want I will post a copy of the article.

You're a BIG kid, BJ! Remind me to take you with me when I go into dark alleys!

That sort of publicity will start you off right!

Mister BJ, can I have your autograph?

That's cool buddy. Keep up the good work!!

Good jog BJ. That's the kind of stuff I was talking about. Now print hard copies and get a professional referral from the guy if you can. Put all that along with your resume (you were SUPPOSED to send me) into a portfolio. Get pictures of you on stage at tourneys every time you can holding good fish and shaking hands with directors, industry leaders, etc.

Knowing how to fish is one thing, knowing how to market yourself is another. Go to one of those BASS university things and pull aside one of the pros afterwards. When everyone else is asking about techniques, ask him the real deal on fishing pro and sponsorships.....you'll get your money's worth right there.

Denny Brauer, Larry Nixon, Mickey Bruce, are all good guys to ask and will take the time to really tell you how it is was for them.

Rob I was thinking about that the other day. I havn'et had a chance to re-write it. I lost it when my computer messed up a few months ago.
