Just got my Yamamoto news letter and it is interesting that 2 of their baits made some impacts last weekend. Fred Roumbanis took big fish honors at the Classic on the new 9P Pro Senko and Judy Wong won the WBT on a 5" Senko on a football head jig!! I don't weight a Senko but hey, if it works go for it. Here's a cut and paste from the newsletter. Y'all outta sign up for it anyway it is a good read and I promise you, there's no spam generated with it. Here's the story with some imbedded links if you want to read more.

On edit...you can bet there were a lot of Hula grubs, Senkos and jig trailers being thrown also that you'll never hear about.

EDITOR'S LOG

The phone rang a few weeks ago. A beehive of family activity

buzzed on the other end as Bassmaster pro Fred Roumbanis,

Julie his wife and their bouncing baby boy Jackson were on

the road driving to practice for Fred's first Bassmaster

Classic. It was going to be a good trip for them, since

Julie and Fred also planned to celebrate their first

wedding anniversary there too.

"I saw some of the new 9P Pro Senkos that Gary Yamamoto has

just come out with, and I'd like to get some for the

Classic. My absolute favorite Yamamoto color is #330 green

pumpkin with purple and copper flake. Does the Pro Senko

come in that color," half-asked and half-hoped Fred.

That day, I mailed the new Pro Senkos in color #330 to the

hotel where Fred's family would be staying in South Carolina

for the Classic.

The story may have ended there, until the phone rang today

and Fred's whole family was abuzz on the other end again.

"I caught the biggest bass of the entire Classic," a

jubilant Fred gushed out. "On Gary's new Pro Senko, the

color you sent me (#330)."

I kidded Fred back, "That was Gary's and our company's

first anniversary gift for you guys."

Getting Fred's call, that made today a good day for me, and

somehow, a small bag of Senkos made a fitting first

anniversary gift and an unforgettable first Bassmaster

Classic for Fred's family.

Congratulations, Fred and Julie. We wish you many more happy

years and Classics together.

Regards,

Russ "Bassdozer" Comeau

TEAM YAMAMOTO'S JUDY WONG WINS WOMEN'S 2008 BASSMASTER CLASSIC

"Hip, Hip Hooray!" for Team Yamamoto pro, Judy Wong!

More than half the world are women and Judy Wong has once

again proven why she alone is the best bass angler among

them.

Judy won the 2008 Women

Interesting how a simple change in the way a bait is rigged can make all the diff in the world!

How many people you know split shottin' 4" worms in summer...I do and it can be killer at times;)

Judy was fishing the hot hole. From what I understand it is usually an off limits area that BASS did NOT make off limits.

Thats here nor there....congrats anyway.

I can't think of a single time any trail T took place one Keowee that the hot water discharge wasn't off limits. Just about every club, local, or regional trail on Keowee makes it off limits as well. FLW events are off limits there, too. I'm not busting Ms. Wong's chops, but whoever is flight 1A and first boat will win out of there on every winter T, hands down. It's small, easy to block, and the warmest, most fertile water on the lake in cold weather. It's sad that she'll have to answer to that bad BASS T director decision for earning the win. IMHO

I agree with that statement. I like Judy, she doesnt need this cloud hanging over such a great win.
