As promised, here are some pictures of the flush mount tournament ruler installation:

All that is involved is finding a spot that can accomodate 18" of depth for the length of the ruler, approx 2" wide. The ruler mount does not recess into the deck, so it can be mounted on top of the deck, as long as the clearance is available for the ruler below. I chose to remove one of the two cup holders that Triton puts on the front deck.

All the best,

Glenn

Very nice! Do you happen to know if the ruler mount is available separately? Does a standard ruler fit it?

Marty,

I wish. I already had a ruler that came with the boat that was identical to the one they shipped out with the little plastic mount piece. I also had two "Golden Rule" rulers (the actual gold colored ones), so I really didn't "need" another ruler - I just wanted the mount actually. I'd love to see someone that has the capability of making a mold come up with just that little piece. I'm sure they could sell a ton of them at about $5 each. Unfortunately, the entire assembly, with ruler, cost me $25. Not a huge expense, but considering the ruler probably cost $20 of that $25, and I already had 3 rulers... I could have saved myself $20. Hope you enjoyed the pics.

All the best,

Glenn

Glen - Is that removable? Looks nice and professional installed!!

Here is what I did on my Nitro, it was Dan's idea, the ruler fits perfect in between the 2 rod-locker's up front.

I mounted my golden rule on the deck right in front of the middle seat. The little lip is monuted flush to deck right below the seat so it is not in the way. i used the round headed screws so walking in bare feet on the ruler is not a problem. It's funny because you would think it would be in the way but it is not and is almost flush to the floor.

Bill - No, its doublesided tape, that way we just hold the fish up and we're good to either drop him in the livewell or out of the boat!!!

I have mine mounted in a hard plastic sleeve under the rod locker door. I really like what Glenn did, i just dont think i have any place to mount such a thing without cutting a hole in the boat.

Jim B,

My original one from the factory is mounted the same as you describe. I used it, but it was a pain to keep opening the lid with a bass in the other hand, and every time I put it out on the deck, one of a few things would happen. I would either kick it and almost break a toe (I fish barefooted a lot in the summer), kick it and bend it (with shoes on), or (one time) took off and forgot it on the deck and it flew out at full speed as I headed down the lake at Kerr (with no spare onboard). Now I carry two - one under the lid, and this new one.

All the best,

Glenn

Glenn. I normally take mine out and put it on the back deck when in in a t alone. That way i dont step on it and hurt myself. I find alot of times i just endup throwing it in the livewell when im moving. It sinks to the bottom and dosent seem to hurt the fish.

I took some pictures of my middle seat install and my ruler. Just thought I would share.

I'd never thought of mounting mine on the cockpit floor. However, I would prefer not to have it exposed to the sun. Here in KS, metal gets pretty hot; hate to hurt the fishies.

Yep. I'd have to agree with Marty on that one. Even when mine was just exposed to the sun when laying on the deck, I would always give it a quick dunk in the water before laying a fish on it, just to cool it off. With it mounted to the deck, and me fishing barefoot sometimes, I just know I'd be "dancing" sooner or later. I also don't really care to drill extra holes in my boat if I don't have to (thus the replacement of a cup holder with the ruler mount - same holes for everything), and I'm not keen at all with drilling additional holes in the sole (floor / lower deck) of the boat if I don't have to. Nice middle seat installation there Al. Looks good.

All the best,

Glenn

yeah it does get hot in the summer so I carry another one in a compartment. I wish I had a cup holder on the deck to do the install you did on your Triton.

Jim B.

I have been looking for the kind of mount you have on your boat; do you have any idea where I might get one?

Thanks
