Friday, I got Wal-Mart to discount a few reels I have wanted for a long time. They were discontinued, so I got a $120 Team Daiwa and an $85 Quantum Iron ACS for $40 each! Well I just happened to have to Shimano rods at home waiting for reels.....what a coincidence! LOL I spooled them up and was ever so eager to try my new Team Daiwa. I have wanted one of those puppies so long! Well yesterday we had some rain, and I mean pouring (just before it turned to snow and then went to 8 degrees and everything turned into an ice rink!) Anyway, I wanted to try my new reel which I intend to use for flippin, NO way a little 35 degree rain was going to stop me! Revelation! I have a new 100 mph rain suit to try out....what better day and way then the worst of conditions. So here you have this northern redneck half froze, standing on his back deck with a 7' fishing pole, in a bright blue rainsuit and his bright new red Berkley hat flippin a jig to a wheelbarrel in the rain in February. Well the cars driving by cracked up, but I was impressed by the reel AND the suit! Dry as a bone. And yeah, the hat WILL look pink by midsummer after it gets bleached out. Durn fever! Come on SPRING!!! My wife turned on the answering machine and drew the curtains tight. She told everyone that I was off my meds again! LOL

Good one Rob...I'd be one drivin' by laughin' too but,I would have also Yelled at ya' to "SET THE HOOK MAN! Ain't nothin' like catchin' yard carp!

Don't worry Rob, folks around here don't even laugh any more they just shake there heads on the way bye I have been known to stand on the deck of the boat and flip, pitch or cast for my cats..I cut the hook off of a 1/2 hair jig and the cats love chaseing it across the yard.. I tried some Lizzards and the cats just tore them to pieces..

It's ok Rob, you're not alone, the neighbors think I've been tryin to catch a streetlight post out front for years, course, I've also been seen testing lure action out back on the deck on early spring/summer mornings flippin into the pool.... that usually draws a few sideways glances....

Tox, I tried green pumpking with a FLW chunk trailer, but the wheelbarrell wasn't biting. I think it was on a bed! LOL Bruce, I flip to my pointer. Don't own any cats, but my wife cracks up, she sees this big muscular dog in the back yard go racing to my bait twitching in the grass, STOPS butt cold 4 feet in front of it, locks up, raises one paw and points! LOL It's actually how you train puppies, but instead of a bait you use a grouse wing with scent. That way you have control and can teach the dog that they will NEVER catch the "bird" so don't try, just point. My nieghbors really get a kick out of me, they come to their dining room table with coffee and watch me and the dog thru the window. Always glad I can bring a little joy to people's lives! LOL Should have seent them scatter when Cody and I headed out with the Red Rhyder! LOL

Rob: I helped a buddy try and train his beagle to be a rabbit dog..It is amazing there since of smell..But one of the funniest things I had ever seen was we were training/playing with the pup using a dead rabbit to drag a trail..well the pup is hunting and along comes a live rabbit..the dog gave chase and caught up to the rabbit. I swear that rabbit stopped and hit that pup in the nose with it's hind legs about 20 times before the pup could back up..It's a good lap dog now but don't want no rabbit..
