Spent the weekend fishing Bugg's Island lake in southern Virginia. Saturday got a few LMB on topwater, then spent Sunday drifting live bait over deep water. Caught a few blue cats up to about 4 pounds. As I was getting ready to leave one of the bobbers went under. When I set the hook, nothing moved! Thought I had hung the bottom until I remembered I was in 70' of water fishing about 30' deep. At that point, I felt a big head shake and the fight was on. Long story short, after about 30 minutes I was finally able to net the biggest fish I have ever caught. 32 pounds, 44 inches long :D Ambassador 6500 reel with 17 lb test, he stripped line at will until I was able to wear him down. What a blast!

Holy smokes! I think i would have cut the line and headed back to the ramp.

We don't have anything like that in NH waters.

Congrats! That is one monster cat!
