Well, I kinda-sorta got screwed. Not sure if it was done on purpose or not, but I'm a little torn today. I picked up the package from the post office. He did send it Express Mail, and I noted it cost him $22 to do so. I felt bad at first, and planned to send him another $15 to cover shipping costs, as it looks like he was trying to make things right for the delay in shipping.
But then I got home and opened the box. The whole reason I jumped on this deal was that he advertised a 3-9 Nikon Buckmasters scope for $120 shipped. I asked him if it was a 3-9x40, or 3-9x50. He replied that it was a 50. That's a $310 scope, so I jumped all over it and sent him a PayPal payment that same day. Today I get the box and it's a 3-9x40 Buckmasters - a $210 scope.
$100 price difference between the two!!!
Not that the 3-9x40 for $120 was a bad deal. Actually, I thought $90 off a scope that was advertised to be in "excellent condition - not a scratch on it" was a good deal. But when you are expecting $190 off a scope, and instead get something else, it kinda gets you worked up. He offered once to refund my money, but I would have had to pay shipping to return it to him.
I'm tired of getting shafted to return stuff to people who advertise one thing and send you something else (that's twice this month), so I'm just keeping it and considering the deal done.
On another note - the scope was spotless - not a scratch on any of the matte black finish. However, both lenses were filthy and the power ring feels like it has sand in it. I cleaned the lenses, but I have no idea how to get the power ring to stop making that scratchy noise when I adjust it.
OK... I'm going hunting (with a bow).
All the best,
Glenn
