I don't know how many hours? Is there any way of telling on the older 2 stroke motors?

Bryan

One question would be why they ordered it with a galvenized trailer? did it see any salt/brackish water duty? Would effect the motor and wiring and such, possibly.

The boat is at a dealer who a buddy of mine bought a new boat from last year and was very happy with the way the deal went down. He felt like they shot straight with him on his deal. The dealer is about 100 miles from the beach, but my guess is that the boat was used in the rivers that could have been brackish water, but mostly fresh water. You can see a water line on the boat, but that isn't unusual for this aluminum boat.

Is it all-welded? I'm not sure when Tracker went from rivets to welds, but I think it was around 2000. Also, does it have the "revolution" hull? That's supposed to be the newer hull design that made mod-V's handle better and improve ride. Supposed to be drier too.

On hours, I don't think there's a way to check - at least not on my 40hp Tracker by Mercury. On the galvanized trailer thing, that's not uncommon. When I bought my 2002, all the dealer had were Trackers on galvanized trailers. Of course, this was also in Northern VA near the Potomac, so it could have been for the brackish water. Never hurts to ask though.

The 2000 Trackers are rivited not all welded, the all weld didnt go to the 185/175 I think till 2003/4? The 2000's (I think it was 1998 they started it) 175/185 all have the revolution hulls, which are amazing rides for a traditional semi-v hull.

Even welded the hull is nearly bullet proof isn't it? I have never heard of any problems with the rivets?

Bryan

I had zero problems with the rivets/hull of my 2000 Tracker, its still going strong for the 2nd owner in SC.

Having a few rivets leaking is not the end of the world. Mine is 15 years old, and yes the rivets leak. It's just a simple thing to flick on the bilge after 4 hours or so and pump out the couple gallons of water. A dab of clear silicone if I notice one loose also does wonders.

I wouldn't let the fact that it is a riveted hull scare me away from a good deal. There are much more important things to worry about.

Bryan, what are you going to do with the boat? Are you going to fish real big water? Do you want to go faster than the Tracker allows? Do you want to do what your profile says and "Back boatless. Looking to go back to the basics and get a simple BASS boat.

Personally, I'd go for the Tracker and be on the best team there is, Team Tin!:D

Leaning HEAVILY toward the PT185 with a 90hp on it. Won't get one with a 50 or 75.

Bryan

I have a '98 185 with a 90 and absolutely love it. I had thought about spending 15k on a boat but I picked this one up last year for $6500 and it only had 18hrs on the motor. I definitely made the right decision.

Alex, sweet looking ride there. What kind of performace numbers are you getting out of your 90hp? I am looking at a couple of PT185's with 90's on them. One is an 2003 model in imaculate condition for 10000-10500 with extras and the other is a 2000 model for around $8000.

Thanks NCFN! I don't have a GPS, so I am just going off the stock speedo.... I average 43 mph with a buddy on tourney days. By myself I can get her going 45. I just have the stock prop. I'm thinking of getting a SS but I am not sure its worth the couple extra mph's. 43mph is good enough for me and I also fish alot of shallow water where my prop can hit alot of stuff, so I am not sure if going SS is the right choice. Anyway, good luck on your search for the 185/90, after you buy one you won't be dissapointed.
