OPTI MAX VS. 4 STROKE by kenny g, 3/23/2011 13:58 ET

I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A NEW (USED) BOAT AND WITHOUT BEATING A DEAD HORSE OVER AND OVER, I WAS TRYING TO GO WITH A 4 STROKE . FOUND A NICE DEAL WITH A 90 OPTIMAX. IF YOU HAVE A OPTIMAX AND CARE TO SHARE GOOD OR BAD ISSUES, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. IT WILL HELP ME DECIDE ON THE 4 OR 2 STROKE MOTOR. ALWAYS HAD 2 STROKES, NEVER HAD A 4....THANKS, KENNY

what size boat is this 90 opti on?

not knowing the combo and just winging it i would tell you take it for a ride

feel the hole shot , know imagin a much slower hole shot.

a quieter motor for sure but if your boat is a proformance rig you will loose some of that with a 4 stroke.

Go with the Opti- The 1.5L motors are damn near bullet proof.

I have an 05' 75hp Optimax that I have had since new. I now have 573 hours on it with no issues. I run the crap out of this motor and it sees redline quite often. Also trolls well without any problems. Do the proper maintnance on it, use the proper oil, warm it up and just drive the hell out of it.
