Only one more week till the TrepMan/Texas Transplant mini-rally at Lake Russell. We will be fishing from the 72 Ramp near Calhoun Falls, SC/Elberton, GA. Ramp is just across the bridge from Calhoun Falls.

I will be going down next Friday (10/4), and fishing the afternoon waiting for Trepper to arrive (around 5PM). We'll fish till dusk.

Saturday (10/5) we will start out a safelight, and go for most of the day. I will be making room reservations today (hunting/fishing lodge on the GA side). Any of you SouthEast anglers want to join us, COME ON DOWN!

Weather is supposed to be fantastic. Fall fishing should be kicking in.

Guy i would like to make but have to work sat.How are u guys going to fish sunday?

Can't Wait Tex!! Confirmed i'm reading at Eli's school at 12:30pm, should leave at 1:30pm at the latest. Will have all my gear loaded on Friday morning and ready to go from school. I'll call you on your cell phone when I leave the school and when i'm near the ramp. Figure you'll check us in the hotel in the afternoon and we can fish from when I get up there till dark!

Oh, will make sure I have some of the FAMOUS TrepMan Home Brews in the cooler too!!!

Got your message Trep. Looking forward to it. Just to let you know, last time I was down there, the cell receptions was almost non-existent. Really a problem. I'm planning on being there around noontime, and fishing for awhile. I'll have the hotel/lodge straightened out beforehand.

I'll certainly have my cell there and on, just not sure if it will get anything.

What I plan on doing is fishing near the ramp from about 4PM or so on. Plenty of shorline and rip-rap close by to fish.

Sorry Scott, we won't be there on Sunday, this trip. Just late Friday and again Saturday - that is of course if this #%(*^&% storm out in the gulf doesn't foul us up. Hope it keeps heading towards the western Gulf.

Sounds like a Plan Tex! Can't WAIT!! Just gotta spend all week getting my rods and tackle out of the boat and into the car!!!

Will keep an eye on the weather too. You got a good source for reports from Russell? BFHP?

Actually, I'm getting some decent stuff from anglerschannel.com. I'll forward some to you. Supposed to get some scuttlebutt on brushpiles sometime this week.

Right now, the storm is being talked about like it will head towards Texas. If so, we shouldn't be bothered at all.

I'm going to bring your video's with me to return to you. I put new line on several reels last night. Also re-tied all the baits, and rematched several rods/reels for better performance. Anything that you don't bring, I'll have - except if you want to do any striper fishing. So don't worry about bringing too much stuff. I've got a load full. Do what feels 'right' for you. Plenty of room in the boat, so bring what you want. I'll have a cooler.

Was able to transfer all of my waypoints that I marked on Russell (in the spring), from my older GPS to my newer one with Fishing Hot Spots. Worked great.

Tex - for the striper fishing, do you have a/any rod holders built in for trolling? I won't mess with live bait/downline stuff, but if you've got at least one good trolling rod holder i'll bring my 8 1/2 foot trolling rod and an umbrella rig. We could troll if the bite gets slow or we just want to take a break. Otherwise i'll stick with my bass gear.

Figure i'll bring 3 or 4 rods, all of my tackle fits in 1 oversized softside bag (holds 3 plano 370 boxes, my spinnerbait box and my worm bag, along with my tools/towels).

MAN this week is going to go SLOW!!! So, right now it's just you and me, too bad for the other folks!

Got a India Pale Ale and a Honey Pilser bottled for us.

Yes, I have several rod holders on the boat. They are the simple ones (hold one rod and does not adjust on the vertical axis). One off each side of the stern. Trolling a line should work fine.

Any other rod/reel combo that you might want to try, I'll probably have. My rod/reels in the corner right now count are at 7. When I put the C-rig back on tonight, that will bring it to 8.

You said that you haven't quite mastered the C-rig as yet, correct? If so, we'll make that a priority on this trip. I've finally gotten it down pretty well, and almost always can bag something on it.

Pale Ale and Honey Pilser sound fine.

I'll post information about where we are staying, this afternoon.
