I don't know about there in TX but here in VA they are wrong so often, I use the "open the window and stick your head outside" method. Look up, if it's cloudy and has dark clouds there's a good chance it will rain.

Only job I know of where you can be wrong 80% of the time and not get fired (other than a politician).

They are normally wrog but i do check them for reference of im going far away for a trip. i check accuweather.com, weahter.com and noaa.com.

I usually average the forcast between:

http://www.intellicast.com

http://www.accuweather.com

http://www.wunderground.com

I use Intellicast the most.

When close to a fishing trip or tourney, I use weather.com, since I like the hourly forecasts of wind/rain that you can see.

I pay little attention to the forecasts themselves, but alot of attention to the Doppler radar loops that all of the sites usually offer.

They tell the most.

I use the Weather Underground. In nearly all cases, they are correct.

weather underground is what i have used in the past. like texas, the weather here in oklahoma is very unpredictable at times. i mostly use a program called "I-news" which i downloaded (free) from a local tv station which has the radar loops and forecasts which i get from the local tv station. it also notifies of warnings and such while you are on-line and has the hourly track of wind, temp, and precip. might check you locations and see if this is avail as it looked like the radar might have linked up to a national site also. the forecasts are just an educated guess and it seems like they miss the "wind" speed forcast a lot (i just usually add 10mph to whatever they forecast).

I'm actually thinking of getting one of those roof mounted mini weather stations with the base unit in the house. Anybody ever use them?

I know the entire weather pattern for a Canadian season.....COLD, 2 days of warm, 5 days of rain and BIG Fishies!!

LOL ,That's almost accurate, but actually our summers are really nice, even up in northern Ontario ,we usually get about 4 months of beautiful weather then the rest of the year we should just sleep.

I also live in Texas. I'm about an hour North of Houston. A buddy of mine told me that the weather is very hard to predict in our area as we are unique geographically. He says that the pressure coming in from the Gulf often stalls southeast fronts but sometimes it doesn't have much of an effect. According to him this makes it tough to predict the path of a storm system or front. I trust him b/c he has a degree in meteorology from Texas Tech University...

I feel your pain though as I depend ont eh weather forecasts to plan my workweek (and fishing trips around work)...it sure can be frustrating

I use www.weather.com for basics and quick radar checks. But for details and close to real-time radar during heavy/strong storms I use what Harpo posted - http://www.nws.noaa.gov/

I'd like to get my hands on our local Weather man. I headed out Saturday in shorts and a T-shirt based on a 70 degree forecast and the high ended up being in the 50's. Fishing those windy points was a little nipply. I think they should work on commission and only get paid when they nail it.

Now you're talking!! I think everybody in the country ought to be on commission.
