offset seat pedestal

Will an offset pedestal put to much strain on the deck of my PT-170?

Unless you are "Bayou REALLY BIG Boy," I don't know why it would do so. The pedestal is designed to absorb the stress moreso than the mounting peg. Doesn't Bill Dance use an offset on his tin can?

I wiegh about 225lbs. I've seen Bill using them but I doubt he uses a boat for more than a couple of months.

I still don't see an issue for you to worry about.

I have used them off and on for a number of years, and I go very heavy! Haven't had any problems on my unit, but then again, I have a glass boat. If you experience any problems, my guess is that it will be at the junction of the seat to the mounting bracket - for not being straight up and down (fully vertical), might cause some added stress there.
